A roundtable discussion titled "Cyprus and energy - an exchange of views," held at the European Parliament in Brussels brought experts, diplomats and politicians together to debate the Cyprus reunification efforts and how a trillion cubic meters of natural gas discovered around the island could aid a permanent peaceful solution for the island.

The Network to Promote Linguistic Diversity - one of the most active NGOs working in the field of language policy - has supported the petition against the ban of the use of languages other than Bulgarian during election campaigns.
"I truly believe that our common efforts can achieve those results we all expect - the Bulgarian authorities to support the use of autochthonous languages in all spheres of life, including participation in election campaign", Ilhan Kyuchyuk said.

It was sponsored by MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe; MEP Barbara Lochbihler, with the Greens/European Free Alliance and the vice-chair of Subcommittee on Human Rights of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, gave the closing remarks.

Ilhan Kyuchyuk reminded the audience that the European Commission places particular emphasis on the fact that economic development can be achieved if member states work effectively not only with each other but also with the European institutions. Most importantly, if they keep to the objectives of the Europe 2020 strategy.
