I have voted in favour because we should acknowledge that regulatory fitness and performance programme (REFIT) represents an important step towards simplifying legislation and reducing administrative burdens of regulation for businesses as well as eliminating barriers to growth and job creation. Looking from this perspective, we should work to ensure predictability, legal certainty and transparency of REFIT. In doing so, however, we should not forget that the impact of legislation on large enterprises and on SMEs may differ. Therefore, we should propose and implement legislation that clearly states that all employees have a right to the highest level of protection regarding health and safety in the workplace, regardless of the size of the employer or the underlying contract.
