During the debates on the earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria last week, MEP from the MRF, Ilhan Kyuchyuk, expressed support for the victims and hope that in these difficult times, European civil society and institutions will unite to assist those in need.
“I call for the full mobilization of Europe’s civil society, let every European citizen help. The people in Turkey and Syria are engulfed in grief as they try to survive without homes and sanitary conditions. They now need generators, blankets, warm clothes, water, and food. They need our support! This is a matter of solidarity, a matter of uniting our efforts to help the people in Turkey and Syria get back to life,” Kyuchyuk stated.
The leader of the European Liberals expressed gratitude to Commissioner Lenarčič and his entire team for the decisive actions taken through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
“I would also like to applaud and thank the thousands of rescue teams from the EU and volunteers who are working tirelessly on the ground. It is a matter of solidarity, a matter of uniting our forces to help the people in Turkey and Syria return to life. Political, humanitarian, and moral support is needed!” Kyuchyuk further commented from Strasbourg.
