That is why this discussion raises questions with a view to one of the basic principles of any system – the need for legal clarity, ” said Ilhan Kyuchyuk at the opening of the webinar.
During the event, participants discussed existing obstacles and issues in view of the many different rules and regimes in the EU regarding the establishment, termination and status of non-profit organizations, as well as issues related to decentralized supervision of their activities, tax and economic issues and the free movement of capital dedicated to public benefit activities within the internal market.
“All of these aspects require closer scrutiny to overcome unnecessary barriers and ensure legal certainty, which is essential if we are to unleash the potential of philanthropy and strike the right balance of mechanisms to ensure the independence and accountability of those working in this field. organizations “, commented Kyuchyuk during the meeting.
The topic of the webinar is particularly relevant in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, in view of the participation of non-profit organizations in research and public benefit, as well as the forthcoming consideration by the European Parliament’s Committee on Legal Affairs of a report on the Statute for European Cross-Border Associations and non-profit organizations, for which the rapporteur for “Renew Europe” will be the Bulgarian MEP.
