Together with his colleagues, Kyuchyuk visited the “Bridge of Hope”
ALDE co-president Ilhan Kyuchyuk visited the Siget border crossing on the Romanian-Ukrainian border with fellow MEPs and members of the liberal family in Romania.
“I hope the war will end soon, because the consequences are huge. What we see here is that the Romanian authorities and people, are making great efforts to be useful to Ukrainian citizens fleeing the war. Now is the time to show the empathy that is in human nature. Now is the time to stand on the right side so that we have a worthy place in history. Together we will fight for peace and truth to prevail. “, Said Kyuchyuk.
The Liberals visited the “Bridge of Hope”, which after the war became a symbol of a better life and the belief that one day everything will be fine. The initiative of Romanian volunteers has become a real wave of empathy for the children of Ukraine, who can cross the bridge to take a toy and cross the border with positive thoughts.
The ALDE co-chair left a teddy bear on the Siget Bridge, saying: “Only a person who has seen this tragedy face to face can understand how terrible the war is. I hope this horror is over soon.
According to Kyuchyuk, over the past month, European institutions and EU leaders have shown unprecedented support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. Ukraine is a country that fights for its independence, territorial integrity, does it in the name of European values, because it wants to be right there, part of this family.
