Ilhan Kyuchyuk from MRF/Renew Europe accused the former Minister of the Interior Boyko Rashkov of illegally restricting the free choice of Bulgarian citizens. Kyuchyuk believes that the abuse of law did not start with the arrest of the ex-prime minister is simply the culmination. Violation of laws, however, has become the norm in the past few months, Kyuchyuk pointed out.
“There are a total of 191 cases presented to you, Mr. Reynders, and Ms. Jourova. How does an interior minister allow himself to threaten political activists, make them sign protocols. Alerts them that they are active in a campaign. A 27-year-old young man from Aytos was summoned by the police for handing out campaign materials. It’s like Manfred Weber being a candidate in Bavaria and the police calling him for leaflets.”, pointed out the Bulgarian liberal.
Kyuchyuk accused Boyko Rashkov that under his “expert” leadership, the police checked people with motor problems, some of them from birth, to see if they were really sick.
Ilhan Kyuchyuk asked the EC to condemn the illegal actions of Boyko Rashkov, because, according to him, this is not normal in a member state in the 21st century.
